PROVENCE STYLE ROSÉ – ENJOUÉ

The 2025 Justi Creek Vineyard Enjoué Rosé is a blend of 40% Grenache, 31% Mourvèdre, 24% Syrah, and 5% Counoise and has a distinctly Provençal aesthetic. Bright salmon/silver in color, it comes from vines planted specifically for rosé and reveals aromas of strawberries, fresh flowers, tarragon, and fresh herbs. It has a silky texture, very good length, and genuinely a lot to offer within the category. Drink 2026-2029.
SAUVIGNON BLANC – ZUT ALORS

The first of the Lasseter Family’s three Sauvignon Blanc-based wines, the 2023 Zut Alors Los Guilicos Vineyard has a brilliant silver/straw hue and was mostly raised in steel, although it saw a touch of oak neutral aging. Snappy and refreshing while offering subtle nuance, the palate is lean, with even, ripe acidity and a graceful and delicately floral feel. It’s perfect for lovers of Sancerre. Drink over the next several years.
WHITE BORDEAUX BLEND – VOILÀ

The 2023 Voila is 70% Sauvignon Blanc and the rest co-fermented Semillon, raised in 30% new French oak barrel for ten months. A bight silver hue, this Bordeaux Blanc-inspired white has a bit more depth and richness, with notes of white peach and salted grapefruit. It reveals elegantly soft floral edges to its medium-bodied frame and has even acidity, lovely length, and a mouthwatering finish. Drink 2025-2035.
RED RHÔNE BLEND – CHEMIN DE FER

A ripe ruby red color, the 2022 Chemin De Fer is 52% Mourvèdre, 32% Grenache, and the rest Syrah. It offers fruity and primary notes upfront but also reveals a darker mineral undercurrent on the nose, with notes of strawberries, cocoa, tea leaf, candied flowers, and a hint of pepper. It’s medium to full-bodied but floats on the palate with a graceful feel before revealing a darker profile of mineral tones coming through on the long finish. Age this one another couple of years and drink 2026-2045.
GRENACHE BLEND – DENTELLE DE FER

Pouring a rich ruby/red color, the 2023 Dentelle De Fer was tasted as a barrel sample and is entirely made from Grenache from the Justi Vineyard in the Sonoma Valley. It offers a spicy and appealing perfume, balancing its sweet red and purple fruit with notes of fresh sage and wet stones. Medium to full-bodied, it has a lovely chalky texture as a barrel sample, and it’s going to soften over the next period of aging, but I like the tension it carries and hope it keeps that nerve. It’s going to be a lovely vintage for this wine.
SYRAH BLEND – INATTENDU

A blend of 51% Syrah, 35% Grenache, and the rest Mourvèdre, the 2022 Inattendu (which means “unexpected”) displays a darker hue of red/magenta in the glass and shows off notes of olive, fresh plum, pepper, and wildflowers. The palate boasts a meaty, full-bodied structure without ever feeling heavy, and it’s long on the palate, with ripe tannins and a touch of grip in its gravelly texture. Drink it over the next 12 years or so.
MERLOT – PAYSAGE

Dark black/red-colored and Merlot focused, the 2022 Paysage is a blend of 85% Merlot, 9% Malbec, and the rest Cabernet Franc. It is ripe and well balanced with a brooding sense to its notes of savory pine sap, dark chocolate, spiced black plum, and cedar. It boasts fantastic energy on the palate for the vintage, with ripe tannins and a long, smoky finish. It will have a lot of charm rather young but would be well-suited for aging over the next 15 years.
MALBEC – AMOUREUX

The 2021 Amoureux is gorgeous as well, with a fantastic perfume of pure black plum, a touch of menthol, pressed lavender, and pine sap. Full-bodied, with ripe tannins, it displays good freshness in its notes of boysenberry, tea leaf, and floral oils that are persistent throughout, with a bit of smoky earth on the finish. It takes on a slightly richer tone than the 2019, but it’s very close at this stage to the quality of its older sibling.

SAUVIGNON BLANC
Trinity Ridge Vineyard, Moon Mountain District

94 Points, Vinous – Antonio Galloni (February 2025)
The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc (Moon Mountain District) is a wine of real pedigree. Strong varietal notes and mountain structure come together in a layered, dynamic Sauvignon Blanc that delivers tons of textural intensity and nuance. Crushed rocks, sage, tomato leaf and citrus peel all open in the glass, but it is the wine’s understated structure and overall persistence that I am drawn to the most. Superb.
CHARDONNAY

The 2023 Chardonnay Trinity Ridge Vineyard is terrific. Deep and beautifully layered in the glass, the 2023 offers up hints of lemon confit, tangerine peel, mint, slate and dried herbs. This is super classy and polished from start to finish.
OLD VINE ZINFANDEL – L’AME DU SAGE

The 2022 L’Ame Du Sage Justi Creek Vineyards is a heritage field blend of mostly Zinfandel along with Cabernet Franc, Alicante, Petite Sirah, Grand Noir de la Calmette, Peloursin, Lenoir, Merlot, and Mourvèdre. The nose reveals peppery spice on opening and is ripe with aromas of dark cocoa, red plum, mixed berries, toasted sage, and violets. Full-bodied, it reveals notes of ripe berries and a rounded but even palate. Drink 2024-2034.
CABERNET SAUVIGNON – REMINISCENCE

A dark red color, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Trinity Ridge Vineyard is entirely composed of Cabernet Sauvignon and was aged for 16 months in 95% new French oak. In the glass, it boasts a very heady and complete layered feel on the nose, with notes of blackcurrant, savory mountain herbs, leather, cedar, dark earth, and tobacco. It’s ripe, expansive, and full bodied, with a kiss of sweet fruit to balance out the savory ripeness, and it has ripe tannins and a long finish. Drink 2027-2047.
SYRAH
Trinity Ridge Vineyard, Moon Mountain District

The 2021 Syrah Trinity Ridge is highly aromatic with resinous notes of scorched earth, pine sap, black plum, and fresh sage. Full-bodied, the tannins are ripe but firm and will need some time to soften, but they reveal a beautiful wine with notes of turned potting soil, cured meat, inky black fruit, and cedar. Drink over 2026-2040.
